Al –Muslimaath is a voluntary Organisation registered with the Ministry of Social Services. One of the main objectives of this organisation is Da’wah and Social Services. Since this organisation has been on the field for over 16 years, it understands the needs of the Muslim Society as regards education and the methods to deal with these problems which face the Muslim Society today.
Most of the future young mothers of the Muslim Ummah today lack Islamic knowledge. The young girls who leave school are exposed to western influences especially the fitna of the Television. It is the normal trend for girls who leave school after their Ordinary Level Examinations and the Advanced Level Examinations to enrol themselves in classes such as cookery, sewing, patchwork and other classes, exposign themto fithna sicne this involves taravelling by bus and free intermingling. . Although these knowledge is also necessary, we feel that the need for a proper Islamic knowledge is of top priority. The girls also lack a serious goal in life. Even if they do well in their exams and wish to enter the University there is a backlog of about 2 years. These 2 years are therefore being wasted.
These vocational courses offered at various private classes exploit these youngsters and cost a lot of money too. We feel we can bring beneficial Islamic knowledge in a more economic way. Insha Allah, our aim and objective is to build up a society with a base of educated religious mothers
Also as an organisation totally involved in Da’wah we come across Maulavias who have such a vast knowledge of Islam but unfortunately they cannot express themselves in English. This is because their medium of instruction throughout has been either Tamil or Sinhala.
Providing Isamic knowledge to future mothers is a long felt need among Muslim youngsters, who are in need of the opportunity to widen their knowledge. There is an absolute need of the Muslim Society today to provide these girls the access to correct knowledge which do not contain errors or inaccuracies or deviation from the correct Islamic beliefs and understanding.
This project is an effort to assist the young future mothers an easy access and inexpensive method of learning true Islam and other special life skills under one roof, under protective supervision thereby educate the community as a whole.
OBJECTIVES
2.1 The objective of this project is to have contributed towards the effort to improve the knowledge of the society in general. With the advent of the television we find that more and more people are becoming addicted to this. In order that we may wean them away from the harmful effects of the television, and to make them spend their time profitably, both for this world and the next, this course would be an ideal replacement.
2.2 We also find that today youngsters have easy access to Islamic knowledge consisting of material which are both authentic and inaccurate. This of course will lead to false understanding which becomes a severe danger to the unity of Muslims the world over. With Al-Muslimaat guiding these youngsters and conducting these courses the girls would be able to gather correct knowledge on Islam, according to Shariah, based on Qur’an and Sunnah.
